Google Play now requires new apps and app updates to target Android 16 (API level 36). If your app targets an older API, Play Console blocks your update with a "target API level" error until it is fixed.
I'm a Java developer with 9+ years of experience, and I publish my own games on Google Play, so I go through this update myself every year.
What I do:
- Raise targetSdk and compileSdk to 36
- Upgrade the Android Gradle Plugin, Gradle and outdated libraries
- Fix build errors and the Android 15 and 16 behavior changes (edge-to-edge screens, foreground services, permissions)
- Test the app on a real phone and an emulator
- Give you a signed AAB, or upload the release to your Play Console (Premium)
This gig covers native Android apps (Java or Kotlin) and Godot games.
What I need from you: the source code (Git repository or zip), and for the release, access to your Play Console as an invited user. I never need your Google password.
