Cyber Security Instructor

Bano Qabil Pakistan • Fulltime

May 2026 - Present • 5 mos

Worked as a Cybersecurity Instructor, delivering structured training in cybersecurity fundamentals and helping students develop both theoretical understanding and practical security skills. I completed a full cybersecurity batch and guided students throughout their learning journey, from basic concepts to hands-on security practices. My teaching covered core cybersecurity concepts including networking fundamentals, operating systems, common cyber threats, security principles, authentication, access control, vulnerability assessment, incident response, and defensive security practices. I focused on explaining technical concepts in a simple and practical way so that beginners could understand how cybersecurity works in real-world environments. I also conducted practical sessions and guided students through security-related tools, labs, troubleshooting exercises, and cybersecurity projects. Students were encouraged to apply what they learned through hands-on activities rather than relying only on theoretical lectures. I helped them understand security risks, identify vulnerabilities in controlled environments, analyze security-related information, and follow basic defensive approaches. As an instructor, I was also responsible for planning sessions, preparing learning material, assigning practical tasks, monitoring student progress, answering technical questions, and providing feedback on assignments and projects. I guided students during project development and presentations and encouraged them to build professional skills alongside their technical knowledge. Throughout the batch, I focused on creating an interactive learning environment where students could ask questions, practice concepts, revise previous lessons, and gradually improve their technical confidence. I also introduced students to areas such as SOC operations, Blue Team concepts.

May 2026 - Jul 2026 • 2 mos

During my part-time role at Cybester as a SOC Analyst and Blue Team professional, I gained practical experience in security monitoring, threat detection, log analysis, incident identification, and defensive cybersecurity operations. This role allowed me to work with real-world cybersecurity concepts and strengthen my understanding of how Security Operations Centers (SOCs) monitor, analyze, and respond to potential security threats. My responsibilities included reviewing security events and logs, identifying suspicious or unusual activities, understanding indicators of compromise, and analyzing security-related information to determine whether an event could represent a potential threat. I developed a structured approach to investigating alerts by examining available information, understanding the context of an event, and documenting relevant findings. As part of my Blue Team responsibilities, I focused on defensive security practices and understanding how organizations can improve their security posture. I worked on concepts related to endpoint security, network monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability awareness, incident response, and security event analysis. I also gained experience understanding common attack techniques from a defensive perspective and learning how security teams can detect and respond to them. I developed familiarity with the overall SOC workflow, including alert monitoring, initial analysis, investigation, prioritization, documentation, and escalation. I learned the importance of distinguishing between normal activity, suspicious behavior, and potentially malicious events. This helped me improve my analytical thinking and understand how SOC analysts contribute to an organization's overall security operations. My experience also included working with cybersecurity logs and understanding different types of security events generated by systems, endpoints, and networks.

During my Cybersecurity job at Arch Technology, I worked on practical cybersecurity projects that helped me strengthen my understanding of security monitoring, Python programming, system security, data handling, and defensive security concepts. One of my key projects was an educational Keylogger project developed in a controlled and authorized environment. The purpose of the project was to understand how keylogging techniques work from a cybersecurity perspective and how such activity can be identified and mitigated. I explored the basic architecture behind keystroke-capture mechanisms, event handling, secure data processing, and the security risks associated with unauthorized keylogging. This project improved my understanding of endpoint threats and helped me learn how security professionals can detect suspicious input-monitoring behavior and protect systems against such techniques. I also developed a Python-based Snooping Tool as part of my internship work. The project focused on understanding how system-level information can be collected and monitored in a controlled lab environment. Through this project, I worked with Python programming, system interaction, data collection concepts, file handling, logging, and basic security considerations. I focused on understanding how unauthorized monitoring can become a security risk and how defensive controls can be used to identify and prevent suspicious activity. The project strengthened my Python skills and gave me practical exposure to security automation and endpoint monitoring concepts. Another important project I worked on was a Windows Backup Project. The objective was to understand and implement a structured approach to backing up important Windows system data in an organized and reliable manner. I explored backup concepts, file management, data organization, recovery considerations, and the importance of maintaining copies of critical information.
