Given your number 1 competitor, I'll first scour the internet to find their power and standard users. Next I conduct qualitative research through surveys and casual conversations to find how and why they use their apps.
Afterwards, you'll know exactly how your competitors apps work from a UX and marketing level, and you'll also understand why their key customers use it. This can allow you to position your product more precisely by understanding the value proposition of your competitors.
The result:
I will deliver the results of my research in the form of a PDF containing detailed user breakdowns as well as feature and user analyses.
