I supported the finance team with daily accounting and bookkeeping operations. My key responsibilities included recording financial transactions, posting journals, and maintaining accurate accounting records in accordance with standard accounting principles. I assisted in bank and M-Pesa reconciliations, ensuring balances matched statements and resolving discrepancies. I handled invoice processing, expense tracking, and filing of financial documents to support audit readiness and proper record keeping. I also supported the preparation of basic financial reports such as Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets under supervision. During the internship, I helped update accounting systems, including QuickBooks and Excel spreadsheets, and ensured data accuracy through regular checks. I assisted in VAT and tax-related tasks by organizing supporting documents, preparing schedules, and ensuring compliance with reporting deadlines. I worked closely with senior accountants, providing administrative and accounting support, responding to internal queries, and maintaining confidentiality of financial information. The role strengthened my attention to detail, time management, and understanding of accounting procedures while exposing me to practical, real-world financial operations.
