As the Head of Human Resources (CHRO equivalent) for an educational institution with twenty-two international, English-speaking schools in Hong Kong, I oversaw approximately 3,200 full-time and part-time staff and an annual budget of HK$2.4 billion, serving over 18,000 students. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and regularly engaging with the Board of Governors, I was responsible for all facets of human resources, including: - Employee engagement and wellbeing - Talent acquisition - Employee orientation - Employee and union relations - HR operations with internal clients & stakeholders - Performance management - Compensation and benefits - Policy updates and maintenance - HR information systems - Training and development I led a direct team of over 25 HR professionals, including creating an HR business partner team. Given the institution's sensitive history and withdrawal of government funding (now less than 10% of total revenue), many HR initiatives focused on reinventing ESF, supporting business development (school expansion) initiatives, establishing a new vision, mission, and strategic plan for the future, while fostering a more future-oriented and empowering culture human resources strategy, including adopting artificial intelligence [AI] technologies.
