What if my book is over 100,000 words?
Yes, I can do it. If the file is over 100,000 words, order Gig Extra just to cover the length of your manuscript. Also, if you have a recipe, poem, journal, or workbook, please contact me first. Please ask lots of questions. I love building long-term clients. I love helping new writers.
Will you make a custom offer for my book?
I will need your word count and image count for a custom presentation. Please contact me with any questions and I will give you a specific offer for your book type. I like communicating with the process. So please contact me and ask questions.
Can you use any trim size?
Yes, but using standard sizes makes it easier for both of us. 6 X 9 5.5.X 8.5 and 5 X 8 are examples of common sizes. Another tip is that a book must have 100 pages for print-on-demand to have the text on the spine of the print cover. If you need help, just ask.
What if I have multiple books to format?
I can handle this job. Just message me for a custom order. For large multiple orders, I usually need to see the files so I can brief the manuscript. If you have a complex non-fiction file with lots of footnotes and references, contact me before ordering.
Can I use a custom font?
Yes, but I will give you tips. I use professional fonts that I pay for every month. Most people who do formatting don't use professional fonts. Use a PRO!
Do you provide an editable source file?
Yes, I provide it for free with every job. I know how important it is to have a file after publishing that you can go back and change if necessary.
What file format do you prefer for submission?
I prefer the file to be in Microsoft Word. I can accept Adobe PDF and other file formats but please contact me first. If you don't have one of these file formats, we can detect it. I don't like changing Apple pages. (There may be a slight delay) Try saving as a PDF or Word file.
Do you design book covers?
No, this is a separate process. I can recommend a very good cheap designer for the cover. Remember that for print books you need to complete the cover after the interior design is complete. This is so you have a final formatted page count for the spine calculation.
Will you format the images?
Yes, 20 high-resolution up to 300 dpi or higher. I'll do more, but that's a gig extra. So if you have more than 20 photos, contact me first. I format images with "No Blade".
Will you format the matching ebook?
Yes of course! Most of my clients ask me to format multiple versions of their book for them. (ebook, print color, dyslexic version, website version, print black and white, illustrated, etc.) You want your print book and ebook to match. The same person should do both.
