I'm an experienced editor who will give your memoir or family history the final proofreading it needs before you release it into the world. Send your manuscript to me after you've been through developmental editing, copyediting, and have looked at the words so many times you can't see straight. I will be your fresh set of eyes for a reasonable price and a quick turnaround.
I'll proofread for spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and tone -- and I'll let you know if I see any copyediting that was missed. I'll follow The Chicago Manual of Style, unless you'd prefer something else.
My background: I have a BA in English and an MA in history. I run a small book publishing company and my day job is as a magazine and news editor at a college. I've been at this for a long time and I will help make your work the best it can be!

Why would I need a proofreader?
A proofreader is the final set of eyes on your manuscript before you send it out into the world. I'll check to make sure your commas are in the right places, that you're consistent across the piece, that names are spelled correctly, and that there is nothing that will distract your reader.
How do I know I'm ready for a proofreader?
You're ready for a proofreader when you have done all you can with your manuscript and are ready to release it into the world. You may have already been through a developmental editor, a copyeditor, and/or a line editor. A proofreader is your last step.
How should I send you my book?
Please send your manuscript to me as a Microsoft Word document. I will use the track changes feature to recommend edits to your work.
Can you proofread a sample of my work?
My basic service is a $25 proofread of up to 1,000 words. This is a great way to test out my services and see if you like what I can provide you for a larger work.
What will I get from you?
You will receive from me one document with suggested edits (using MS Word track changes) and one clean copy with all the changes made.
What if my manuscript is longer than 30,000 words?
I'm happy to give a quote for a longer piece. Just reach out!
