Over mij
I build and run WordPress sites that stay fast, secure and online when traffic spikes. I've spent 16 years building the web for media and publishing companies in the UAE, including leading the engineering behind a major news platform on WordPress and AWS. I can help you fix what's broken (errors, hacked sites, email that never arrives), make your site fast, move it to better hosting or Cloudflare, and build Arabic and bilingual sites with right-to-left layouts done properly. I'm also the founder of ManTek Technologies, and I publish open-source WordPress plugins.... Lees meer

Technical Lead

Sep 2018 - Oct 2025 • 7 yrs 1 mo

Led the engineering behind Al Aan TV's digital platforms for seven years, heading the development team for a 24/7 news operation. • Designed and ran the WordPress and AWS architecture behind the channel's news platforms for more than five years, through breaking-news traffic spikes. • Built a multi-platform publishing pipeline: one newsroom workflow sending video to YouTube, Dailymotion and Vimeo, and posts to Facebook, X, Telegram and WhatsApp, with scheduling and a central dashboard. • Owned performance: CDN and caching strategy, Core Web Vitals, and cost-efficient scaling on AWS (S3, CloudFront, Lambda, SES and SNS). • Led the development team: architecture, code review, CI/CD and engineering standards. • Ran incident response for a newsroom that could not afford to go offline. • Migrated two of the group's news sites from AWS to Netlify.

Senior Frontend Developer

Feb 2016 - Sep 2018 • 2 yrs 7 mos

Joined during a full digital rebuild of the channel's online presence. • Built the front end of the channel's news website and its custom CMS. • Core developer on an in-house social publishing platform: social login and single sign-on, token management for the Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube APIs, and publishing to the channel's official accounts on behalf of journalists. • Shipped AMP and Facebook Instant Articles versions of every article, the fast-loading formats for mobile search and the Facebook app. • Built reader-behaviour tracking into a Neo4j graph database that powered article recommendations.
