Need someone to look over your work? I'm Mariel, a University of Toronto graduate with a degree in English ready to help you say what you want to say in a clear, concise manner. I have several years of writing and editing experience that have earned me the opportunity of having my work published in an online scholarly journal. Allow me the pleasure to make your writing look its best!
My services include:
- Proofreading: Correcting your grammar, punctuation, spelling, verb tense, and other technical aspects of your work.
- Editing: Analyzing your word choice, sentence structure, syntax, and various larger scale techniques in your document.
- Feedback: Providing helpful suggestions and comments on your writing, and praise where warranted!
You will receive 2 documents:
- Rough Copy: Includes my raw edits and markups made via Microsoft Word's Track Changes function. Your original document will not be affected.
- Feedback Document: A PDF that includes a paragraph or so of my constructive feedback and suggestions for your piece.
I will not accept CVs or screenplay-related documents and will not edit more than 3000 words total.

What file types do you accept?
I accept the file types supported by Microsoft Word: .doc or .docx
Do you take custom orders?
Unfortunately, I do not take custom orders at this time. I will update my gig if that changes.
Why don't you edit CVs or screenplays?
While I have edited these types of documents in the past, I do not have the level of expertise required to professionally edit screenplays. CVs are also typically between 250-400 words, which does not meet the minimum word count of this gig.
Do you use an editing software?
No, I use only my own knowledge and resources to ensure your feedback feels authentic and organic.
Why should I choose your services?
I have several years of writing and editing experience as an English major, so I know how frustrating it is when you want to enhance your writing but don't know how to, or you're on a tight time crunch. I'm ready to help anyone who needs it!
