Attorney (Notarial Practice)
Notaría 97, Guadalajara, Jalisco • Fulltime
Jan 2023 - Present • 3 yrs 7 mos
I work within a notarial practice in Mexico, where my legal work is primarily focused on real estate transactions, corporate matters, and civil-law documentation. My day-to-day practice involves the structuring, review, and formalization of real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, and transfers of property. This includes analyzing the legal viability of transactions, reviewing title and documentation, identifying potential risks, and preparing or coordinating the contractual and notarial documentation required for proper formalization and registration. I also handle corporate law matters related to notarial practice, such as the constitution of legal entities, shareholder and partners’ resolutions, powers of attorney, corporate amendments, and ongoing corporate formalities. Many of these matters are directly connected to real estate holdings or investment structures. In addition, I regularly work with the tax aspects associated with real estate transactions, focusing on the legal and formal implications of property transfers, tax obligations triggered by such transactions, and coordination with accounting professionals when necessary. My practice also includes succession and estate matters, particularly those requiring notarial intervention, such as inheritance-related documentation, estate planning instruments, and coordination of succession procedures under Mexican law. Throughout all these areas, I work closely with notarial processes and public registries, ensuring that documents are properly structured, formalized, and enforceable. This has given me a practical, ground-level understanding of how civil-law transactions operate in Mexico, beyond purely theoretical analysis.
Jr. Business Consultant
Centro Universidad Empresa ITESO • Parttime
Jan 2025 - Dec 2025 • 11 mos
I worked as a Junior Consultant at the Centro Universidad Empresa (CUE) of ITESO, participating in consulting projects focused on small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. My role was primarily operational and analytical. I collaborated in the analysis of internal business operations, including production processes, organizational structure, and decision-making flows. I also participated in market and product studies, evaluating product positioning, competitive landscape, and potential areas for differentiation. In addition, I was involved in basic corporate finance analysis, including cost structures, pricing logic, margins, and financial viability of strategic decisions. This provided me with a practical understanding of how financial considerations influence operational and strategic choices within a company. I also contributed to strategic positioning and product strategy discussions, where the objective was to align operational capabilities, market demand, and long-term business goals. Although this role was not strictly legal, it gave me valuable insight into how companies actually operate, make decisions, and manage risk. This experience has strengthened my legal practice by allowing me to approach legal structuring, contracts, and compliance matters with a clearer understanding of business realities, operational constraints, and economic incentives, particularly in manufacturing and commercial environments.
Policy & Legislative Analyst
Observatorio Legislativo para el Congreso de Jalisco • Parttime
May 2022 - Nov 2022 • 6 mos
I worked as a Legislative Analyst within a citizen, university-based legislative observatory, focused on the independent analysis of legislative initiatives proposed at the local level. My role involved the technical and policy-oriented review of draft laws and legal reforms, applying a social-impact methodology. This included analyzing the statement of motives, evaluating the clarity, coherence, and quality of legal drafting, and reviewing proposed amendments or additions to existing legislation. I also participated in assessing the potential real-world social impact of legislative initiatives, examining whether proposed reforms were likely to translate into effective and applicable public policies, beyond their formal legislative intent. As a citizen and academic initiative, the observatory operated independently from the legislature, emphasizing critical analysis, transparency, and public-interest evaluation of proposed laws. This experience strengthened my ability to analyze legislation not only from a formal legal perspective, but also from the standpoint of institutional feasibility and social effectiveness.
