How long does it take to get a VAT Registration Number?
For UK-established businesses, it typically takes around two weeks to receive a VAT number. For overseas businesses, it can take 40-90 days
Can you expedite the VAT registration process?
No, VAT registration follows a standard process, and there is no way to expedite it—all applications go through the same route.
What documents do I need to provide?
I will ask you to complete a form with personal and business details. Additionally, I will require a photo ID, proof of address for the director, business registration document and evidence of trading in the UK.
Is my personal data safe with you?
Yes, I'm a registered member of the ICO (Information Commission Office) and fully compliant with GDPR regulations. Your data is securely stored and never shared with third parties.
My company is registered in the UK, but I run it from outside the UK. Do I qualify for the VAT threshold?
No. If you operate from outside the UK with no UK presence, you are considered a Non-Established Taxable Person (NETP). The VAT threshold does not apply, and you must register for VAT from your first sale.
I am selling on Amazon UK as an individual and I live outside the UK. Do I need to register with HMRC for self-assessment?
No, you do not need to register for UK income tax. You are only required to register for UK VAT. I will need documentation confirming your sole trader registration in your home country.
I have a company registered outside the UK and want to sell on Amazon UK. Do I need to register a UK company, or can I trade via my existing company?
No, you do not need to register a UK company. You can trade in the UK through your overseas company. However, you must register your company for UK VAT.
I am an Amazon seller trading in the UK via my company registered outside the UK. Do I need to pay any other taxes in the UK apart from VAT?
No, if you only sell on Amazon UK through your overseas company, you do not need to pay UK corporation tax or other taxes. Your only tax obligation in the UK is VAT compliance.
Can I charge VAT before receiving my VAT number?
No, you must not charge VAT on your sales until you receive your VAT number.
Do you provide VAT registration and filing service for EU countries?
No, I currently provide VAT compliance services for the UK only.
