St. Lawrence Muskie Shop — Career Growth & Leadership Experience I started at St. Lawrence Muskie Shop as a regular employee, handling day-to-day retail operations and customer support. Over time, I took initiative beyond my role, identifying opportunities to grow the brand’s presence both online and in the muskie fishing community. I built and managed a Facebook community group that helped strengthen customer engagement and brand loyalty. As the business grew, so did my responsibilities, and I was promoted into a management role, where I oversaw daily operations, staff scheduling, inventory coordination, and customer relations. I independently designed and launched the shop’s Shopify website, expanding the business into e-commerce and enabling online sales. I managed product listings, site structure, branding, and basic optimization to support growth. As manager, I was responsible for hiring, training, and managing staff, as well as making difficult decisions when employees were not a good fit. I coordinated staffing for both in-store operations and events. I represented the business at muskie fishing shows, interacting directly with customers, promoting products, and strengthening the shop’s reputation within the fishing community. I also led social media growth efforts across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, growing the combined audience to approximately 10,000 followers. This included content planning, posting, customer engagement, and brand voice consistency across platforms. This role gave me hands-on experience in retail management, e-commerce, marketing, leadership, and community building, with direct responsibility for real business outcomes.
