Book Cover Designer & Amazon KDP Publishing
Jun 2026 - Present • 3 mos
I work as a Freelance Publishing Designer helping authors, publishers, self-publishing writers, and independent creators develop professional book cover designs for different fiction and nonfiction markets. My experience combines graphic design, visual storytelling, typography, composition, image direction, and publishing knowledge to turn creative briefs into polished, market-ready covers. I have worked with projects across Dark Romance, Romance, Fantasy, Romantasy, Thriller, Mystery, Horror, Self-Help, Memoir, History, Children's Books, Cookbooks, Nonfiction, Christian Books, and Young Adult. Each project requires a different approach to imagery, typography, composition, mood, and audience positioning. For Dark Romance and Romance, I create emotional, dramatic, and character-focused visual concepts. Fantasy and Romantasy projects receive cinematic world-building, magical atmosphere, and immersive composition. Thriller, Mystery, and Horror covers focus on suspense, tension, contrast, and curiosity. Self-Help, Memoir, History, Cookbooks, Nonfiction, Christian Books, and Children's Books receive clean, purposeful, audience-focused design. My responsibilities include researching visual references, developing cover concepts, selecting suitable imagery, refining typography, creating strong compositions, applying image direction, preparing layouts, and making revisions based on client feedback. I also consider how a book cover performs as a thumbnail across Amazon KDP, online bookstores, author websites, and promotional platforms. Through working with different authors, publishers, self-publishing writers, and independent creators, I have developed the ability to understand creative briefs quickly and adapt my graphic design style to different publishing needs. My goal is to combine graphic design, visual storytelling, typography, composition, and publishing strategy to produce distinctive book covers that communicate the right genre and create pro first impression.
Book Cover Designer & Publishing Graphic Designer
Jun 2026 - Present • 3 mos
I work as a freelance Book Cover Designer specializing in creating professional, market focused covers for authors, publishers, self publishing writers, and independent creators. My experience combines graphic design, visual storytelling, typography, composition, image direction, and publishing requirements to create covers that communicate book's genre, mood, audience, and story at first glance. I have worked across multiple book categories, including Dark Romance, Romance, Fantasy, Romantasy, Thriller, Mystery, Horror, Self Help, Memoir, History, Children's Books, Cookbooks, Nonfiction, Christian Books, Young Adult, and other fiction and nonfiction niches. My approach begins with understanding the manuscript, target readers, genre expectations, author preferences, and competitive visual trends. I then develop a cover concept with carefully selected imagery, typography, color direction, composition, hierarchy, and visual effects. My goal is not simply to make a beautiful image, but to create a cover that looks appropriate for its market and makes the book instantly recognizable to its intended audience. My experience includes designing concepts for ebook covers, paperback covers, hardcover covers, KDP publishing projects, series covers, illustrated children's books, fantasy and romantasy covers, cinematic thriller covers, emotional romance covers, professional nonfiction covers, cookbook covers, and promotional book graphics. I also understand that a book cover must work beyond the full size design. I pay attention to thumbnail visibility, readable typography, strong focal points, genre signals, visual balance, and professional presentation so the cover can remain attractive when displayed on online bookstores and author websites. Through freelance projects, I have developed a flexible workflow that allows me to adapt to different author visions, genres, publishing specifications, and creative direction while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
