Can I assign trademark ownership to another person or business?
Yes. A registered or pending mark is transferable like any other property right, and once a trademark application to register has been filed, it is assignable. Written assignments may be recorded in the USPTO for a fee.
Can a pending trademark be assigned?
Yes, although a pending trademark application may be assigned before maturing into a trademark registration, you may not transfer a trademark application filed under Section 1(b) (intent to use) until the trademark itself is in use in commerce.
Can I record trademark assignments to more than one entity?
Yes. You can record trademark assignments to multiple entities. However, I can assist only with recording trademark assignments from one owner to another individual owner or entity.
How much time will it take to transfer the ownership of a trademark?
Generally, assignments are recorded within 20 days of filing.
