Veelgestelde vragen
Q: What access do you need to complete the automated PostgreSQL backup setup?
• • A: I will need SSH access to your database host machine and temporary IAM permissions to configure the target AWS S3 bucket. All credentials are handled with strict confidentiality.
Q: What is Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) and why do I need it?
A: Standard pg_backups only snapshot your database once a day. A PostgreSQL PITR backup continually archives Write-Ahead Logs (WAL) to S3, allowing you to restore your database to the exact minute or second before a failure.
Q: Can you set this up on cloud hosting like AWS RDS or DigitalOcean?
A: Yes! I can configure this for self-hosted PostgreSQL instances (EC2, Ubuntu, CentOS) as well as managed database platforms like AWS RDS using native snapshotting policies.
Q: How do I know the database backup automation won't fill up my disk space?
A: I implement optimized data compression techniques and set up automated AWS S3 lifecycle rules to automatically rotate, archive, or purge old backups according to your compliance requirements.
Q: Do you test the restore process to make sure it actually works?
A: Absolutely. In the Premium package, I perform a simulated database crash and execute a live recovery using the archived logs to guarantee your backup system is 100% operational.
