Waarom zou ik voor de Z Studios kiezen?
We staan in het Verenigd Koninkrijk bekend om het leveren van de beste masters van mixdowns die boven de industrienormen uitstijgen. We weten precies wat nodig is om de ultieme stemmix en/of master te krijgen. Daarnaast bieden we een volledige bestandsanalyse met technische screenshot, zodat je precies weet wat er is gemaakt!
Moet ik een nummer laten mixen & masteren op dezelfde plek?
Ideaal gezien niet. Professionele labels laten meestal mixen doen bij een 'mixing' studio. Daarna verplaatsen ze het bestand naar een 'mastering' huis. Eigenlijk moet je je eigen huiswerk niet maken. Slechts enkele studios kunnen beide succesvol doen. Apparatuur & akoestiek zijn essentieel. Wij hebben beide geluk.
Heb ik een specifieke master versie nodig voor elk 'platform', zoals iTunes, Spotify etc...
Nee. Dit is een discussiepunt. Elk platform verschilt licht met file levels na upload, maar zolang je master correct is gedaan volgens 'onze' industry standard, wordt deze simpelweg 'afgestemd' of 'verlaagd' naar de standaard van het platform. Ons LUFS 'loudness' niveau werkt op alle.
Is er een verschil tussen een 'digitale' master en een 'analoge' master?
Ja. Hoewel veel digitale DAWs uitstekende plugins hebben die analoge technologie simuleren, is er altijd een merkbaar verschil wanneer je luistert naar een 'warm' klinkende analoge versie versus een digitale.
Moet ik het premium 'tape' dienstpakket kopen?
Tape is niet altijd nodig. Het hangt allemaal af van het nummer. Bij live muziek kan het heel nuttig zijn, maar voor de meeste digitale 'in the box' muziek, zoals EDM, is het niet altijd noodzakelijk en is het kiezen voor het midden 'Analogue & Digital' pakket perfect.
Hoe moet ik mijn bestand sturen voor 'digitale' of 'analoge' mastering?
Zonder te wetenschappelijk te worden, moet je mix-down ongeveer -20 LUFS zijn. Of, om het simpel te houden, ongeveer -3 tot -5 dB in level. Probeer zware limiting of compressie op de output bus te vermijden voordat je het afdrukt of bounce. Kijk naar de 4e afbeelding op de gig-pagina voor het presentatiedocument.
