I can deliver the selection in several ways: a list of filenames, a separate folder with the selected RAW/JPEG files, or a Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) with the selected photos flagged or star-rated.
Do you delete the discarded photos?
No, I never delete your original files. I only provide a selection of the best ones so you can decide what to do with the rest.
