No you needn’t. A riff, a chorus, that one chord voicing in bar 17 that you just can’t wrap your head around; whatever suits your needs.
I see that you have a particular interest in straight ahead jazz and ’50s pop tunes. Are you willing to transcribe songs from outside of the niche?

Are you able to transcribe instruments besides guitar?
Yes, I occasionally transcribe trumpeters and saxophonists as well as the odd pianist. However, I do not play these instruments and some of the nuances may elude me.
